POSITION INFORMATION
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Must hold a Doctorate or Proficiency in Arts Degree and be employed as a faculty member.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION
Must have work experience at a level required by the position.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION
- Must possess the general qualifications specified in Law No. 657 on Civil Servants and Law No. 2547 on Higher Education.
- Must have leadership skills, knowledge of management and administration, and decision-making and problem-solving abilities to carry out the responsibilities effectively.
COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THE POSITION
- Must be knowledgeable in management and organization, human resources management, and laws, regulations, and directives—particularly regarding personnel matters.
- Must be skilled in social relations, scientific and artistic organizations (e.g., conferences, symposiums, concerts, workshops, and seminars).
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Dean is appointed under Article 16 of Law No. 2547. According to this article:
"The dean, as the representative of the faculty and its units, is nominated by the rector from among three professors, either from within or outside the university. The Higher Education Council selects and appoints the dean for a three-year term, with the possibility of reappointment."
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
In accordance with relevant legislation and instructions from the Rector’s Office at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, the Dean is responsible for:
- Ensuring that students receive the highest quality training in instrumental and vocal education.
- Developing plans and policies to facilitate efficient academic and administrative operations within the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts.
- Planning, organizing, executing, coordinating, and supervising faculty activities.
- Reporting to the Rector regarding the faculty’s status and progress.
AUTHORITIES
- Chairing faculty councils, implementing their decisions, and ensuring coordination between faculty units.
- Providing annual and requested reports on the faculty’s general status and operations to the Rector.
- Submitting funding and staffing requests to the Rector’s Office with justifications, following consultation with the Faculty Executive Board.
- Overseeing and supervising faculty units and personnel at all levels.
- Performing other duties assigned under the law.
