Department of Performing Arts

Department Introduction

Within the structure of the Department of Performing Arts, the Turkish Music Department and Voice Training Department have been established. Offering international-level and high-quality education is one of the goals of both the department and its major programs.

In addition to selecting courses from the elective group related to their education, students can also choose courses from different disciplines according to their interests and abilities. Our department's students can specialize in solo performance, chamber music and orchestra/ensemble performance, and instrumental teaching.

The qualifications of the training programs in our department are defined in accordance with the Turkish Higher Education Qualifications Framework (TYYÇ). The design of the programs within the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts aligns with the goals and learning outcomes of the curricula, and high occupancy rates are maintained in the Bologna ECTS Information Package. Learning outcomes and program outputs are made consistent, and internal and external stakeholders' opinions are considered when determining elective courses. Additionally, the Faculty of Music and Performing Arts has defined processes for program design and approval. The aims and learning outcomes (gains) of the programs are formulated, aligned with the TYYÇ, and announced to the public. When determining the program qualifications, the mission and vision of the institution are taken into account. The contents of all programs in the unit and their course information packages are prepared considering the national core program and, where applicable, accreditation criteria. The formulation of the gains clearly indicates the expected cognitive, affective, and cyclic levels. The monitoring process for the achievement of program outcomes has been planned, especially concerning the methods and procedures for handling common outputs. Principles and rules are defined for each department regarding the structuring of learning outcomes and necessary teaching processes. The qualifications at the program level are matched with the relevant actions (qualification-course-teaching method matrices), and it is defined which types of education (in-person, blended, distance) are most suitable for gaining qualifications based on field differences. The design of the programs considers their physical and technological needs.
